Corporate Responsibility

For Potters Crouch Candles, corporate responsibility is about managing our business in a way that enhances the positive and minimises the negative economic, social and environmental impacts of our activities.

Corporate Responsibility is all about what we do and the way we do it.

It requires us to make decisions that balance successfully the interests of all those who have a stake in our business.   Those stakeholders include our employees, customers, suppliers and owners as well as government bodies, and the local communities around us.   The trust of these groups is fundamental to our day-to-day business success and to protecting and enhancing its value into the future, so that we can deliver our overall corporate purpose.

Environment

We care for the environment in which we live and work and seek to minimise any negative impact and give back where possible. As an example:

• We converted a 350 year old somewhat dilapidated barn and restored it to create a wonderful working environment
• We accept that motor vehicles are responsible for significant emissions to the atmosphere and by reducing distances travelled; we can benefit the environment and the health of our staff and the general public.   Our policy is also to purchase and operate the most energy efficient vehicles available.
• We seek to source as many of our materials and operational products from local suppliers, minimising transport emissions and road congestion
• We use low energy lighting and seek other ways to manage energy responsibly
• Our active recycling plan ensures we dispose of very little waste
• All appliances purchased must meet minimum energy efficiency standards

We seek to promote a safe healthy and productive environment for all our people.

Community

We encourage all of our team to be involved in their community in some way, and to that end we operate a flexible working policy that allows each one to take time to devote to charitable activities.

Each member of our team is involved in their local community in various ways from school governors to youth leadership and voluntary service.

Charitable Giving

Our commitment to our community is more than simply giving of our time and encouragement. At Potters Crouch Limited, a portion of the proceeds from every candle we sell is donated to worthy causes both local and national.
